To whom it may concern…
Why do you think I didn’t choose Physical Education as an option for my GCSEs? Could you possibly take a guess? Maybe it’s because I have no interest whatsoever in the intellectualisation of exercise. Maybe it’s because I do not wish to be forced into some kind of rigorous training programme which involves swimming (!!!) and long distance running (!!!!!!). At the moment I am not writing an English essay, which I should be writing, because I am ranting about the fact that you’re taking PE too seriously. I believe the reason it is compulsory in England to do at least one hour of PE per week in school, is because we need exercise. Not because we need to sit around talking about nothing. I’d much rather be outside playing netball, than inside having a test on the seven things we need for a balanced diet. We cover that in Biology, thank you. I’m not even taking an exam in PE and will not leave school with a GCSE in the subject. Your paperwork is pointless. Please stop before you force me into doing something silly (cough) like scribbling all over it.
Signed,
Infuriated Student.

On October 10, 2007 at 2:33 pm.Well, we have 3 classes of PE a week and all we ever do is run about a mile. Or two, if the teacher is cranky.
I like your way better. -

On October 10, 2007 at 7:06 pm.One hour a week? We do 40 minutes every other day here.
Of course, MOST of that is spent doing actual…you know, physical activity and whatnot.

On October 10, 2007 at 7:06 pm.Oh, and is it bad if I tell you that transparency is broken in your header image in IE6?

On October 10, 2007 at 9:37 pm.In high school, any class you take is basically one-fourth of your day - an hour and 15 minutes per class. It’s compulsory to take gym in your first year, and most people actually voluntarily take it later on. I will never understand them
It wasn’t that bad though; most of it is playing games. I like running, too.

On October 11, 2007 at 2:34 am.I’m confused if you like PE or not.
And, I might say that you look major years older than fourteen years old.I’m glad we were born the same year, though.

On October 11, 2007 at 3:26 am.I hated PE in school too, because it was… well, so forced. They don’t let you choose to explore an alternative form of exercise even if you request it. Instead we played ball hockey everyday, when I would rather be learning how to use gym equipment properly or do yoga.
They need to make PE more up to the students, because it’s not something you can learn from books. Its tough because it’s so boring. Hold in there!

On October 11, 2007 at 8:31 am.I got my MacBook, Tish! I’m so hyper. Yet, so stuck. Take a bit getting used to? I have to get used to my Mighty Mouse! Ha. It still has a strong ‘New MacBook smell’.
PE at my school is like “You’re not playing, Roni? Oh ok, then…”

On October 11, 2007 at 5:11 pm.Haha - I HATED PE at my school. One of the reasons was because we had little-to-no input of what we actually did. Plus, as I went to an all-girls comprehensive, we weren’t allowed to play ANY contact sports, including supposed non-contact sports like football (not that I was particularly bothered about that anyway, to be honest). Bleh.
