All you ever hear about in the news these days is who’s been stabbed, what measures are being put in place to punish everyone for a few peoples actions and to criminalise everyone, where the latest bombs have been detonated, who’s died, who’s going to die, who’s at risk, who’s going to suffer from the impending recession and that basically our society is in meltdown, and all Heat magazine has to say for it is “OMGZ! LOOK AT THESE FAT CELEBZ IN BIKINIS!!11ONE”
It just angers me, that’s all.

I’m back! At least until I decide that I’m too cool for this again. I’m not too cool for this at all, and as you all know I’m extremely cool. There are a lot of things to update. My about me page is pretty much obsolete now, apart from the Kaiser Chiefs fanatic thing; that’s still true. In the space of six months I have seen them live twice, met them once and spent about £300 on them. On May 24 I saw them at Elland Road stadium in Leeds - what a gig. I was on the barrier (I should think so after queuing for six hours) and I could spot myself in various photos, and even on TV My hand made it’s debut on a poster in NME magazine, which I thought was quite nice. On several photos however, I manage to have picked a spot where I’m behind Ricky’s arse on one, and behind a cameraman on a photo of the band thanking the crowd at the end of the show, which I would quite like to have been a part of. I also didn’t take any pictures for the entire duration of the gig. It’s almost like I wasn’t there, and the whole thing was just a creation of my imagination. Anyway, enough of me harping on about them. I know quite a lot of people hate them as much as I love them, so unless I want to lose friends I should probably change the subject.
What else has happened… I’ve taken four GCSE exams, so I now officially have two GCSEs. Well, providing I’ve passed (which I think I have). I got the results back for my science module one exam and I got 98/100 (a scaled mark, not an actual percentage), which is pretty good. I have an A* for my coursework too, so providing I’ve done as well in the exam I took on Tuesday, I have an A* in general science. Religious Studies was a different matter. We were given two very mean exam papers, and as soon as I sat down I promptly managed to forget everything I’d learned over the past two years. And next year, I have to do citizenship. As an actual subject. Brilliant.
I haven’t written anything in quite a while, so apologies if my writing seems very choppy. I’ve also become self conscious of using “I” too much. In English we’ve been doing poems and in quite a few, the interpretation seems to be “the writer has used I a lot in this monologue to make the character come across as self important or egotistical”. Is that how I come across? Self important? Egotistical? I hope not. There I go again. I can’t stop using I, can I? Maybe I am egotistical deep down and it expresses itself through my writing. Who knows.
I shall now leave you all so I can look at t-shirts on Think Geek and dye my hair a vivid red colour

Apathy

Apathy, boredom, indifference, lethargy, procrastinating, or less eloquently put, doing f*** all: a disease that has overwhelmed much of society. How many people get out of bed in the morning and think: “yes, finally, another day of work/school”? How many people come back from work/school feeling happy and full of energy? I’m sure the majority of us wake up and think “crap, is my sleep over already?”, and come back from our daily routine feeling drained of energy and annoyed with everything that has contributed to a thoroughly rotten day.
Me, I’m nocturnal. I like going to bed in the early hours of the morning and waking up in the afternoon. Therefore, when I’ve gone to bed at 12am (I usually can’t sleep before then) and my alarm rudely awakens me at 7am, I’m not best pleased. I roll out of bed, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush my teeth and stumble out of the house at 8 for a nice 45 minute walk to school beside choking car fumes, wind and sometimes rain. I spend my morning lessons yawning and sitting with my head in my arms on my desk. By the afternoon I’m seriously tired and I want to sleep there and then. I practically sleepwalk my way home and collapse in a heap on my bed, exhausted. I only actually have energy after about 6pm, and then I can’t sleep until midnight, so thus the cycle continues. I don’t know whether I’ve managed to screw my sleep pattern up, I drink too much caffeine or I have some kind of chronic fatigue disorder, but I want it to stop, now. I’ve actually reached the point where I think I’m going to pass out from overworking myself during something as simple as walking.
So, do you ever get too tired to cope?

First of all: merry Christmas!
I’ve been severely neglecting this blog. I guess it got lost with all the festive excitement and all that coursework Well, since I have a nice two week break, I figured it would be a good time to sit down and write up about my recent adventure: none other than seeing my absolute favourite band ever live.
It might have happened over a month ago, but the memory is still fresh in my mind. I had been counting down for weeks on end, getting increasingly excited as the 26th of November neared. The weekend before that Monday, I had done all of my homework on Saturday, and spent Sunday playing Kaiser Chiefs songs full blast. I couldn’t get a wink of sleep, but when I got out of bed on Monday morning I didn’t feel tired at all. This was the day I got to see Kaiser Chiefs live. (more…)

Snow!

Okay, okay, I will write a proper blog tomorrow. I promise! But I just had to document this:

It’s snowing! In England! In November!
Oh how I love winter.
I have fond memories of the last time it snowed. I woke up that one morning, looked outside and thought: “yay! Snow! I’ll have fun walking to school in that.” I rolled out of bed to find my gloves and a scarf, ready for some snowball fighting. Then my phone rang - it was my friend who, along with her twin, I walk to school with. I answered and all I heard was “SNOW DAY!” on the other line. Excited, I exclaimed “what? Really?! No school?!” and proceeded to tear through the house, jumping around the living room like a cat on caffeine. I spent the whole day with them, walking through snow, listening to Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs on my phone. So now, I am sitting here listening to Ruby, immersed in nostalgia and hoping for that day to repeat itself. I really don’t want to do that GCSE mock Chemistry test tomorrow.

… you’re born, you enjoy life for about ten years, without any worries or stress, then you enter secondary school. You’re suddenly hit with a load of homework and the ever looming threat of detention. And when you thought it couldn’t get any worse (although it really isn’t that bad) you enter year ten. You’re faced with coursework, that actually goes to your final grade for subjects, and then you realise that you can’t just sit around procrastinating and drinking tea and get away with it. You actually have to do something. Because it matters. It matters because you have to get qualifications, go to university, get a job, make money, pay bills and pay tax just so your life is bearable. All that work just to exist. Then you have to find time to live. Is it really worth it? Just existing?

Cats talk in their sleep

They really do. Spider slept on a beanbag in my bed last night, and just as I was about to fall asleep he starts talking to himself. Obviously not in English, but cat language. It was something like “muh muh mow maah [pause] mowwww [purr] mah-owww [snort]”. I was trying not to laugh, but I couldn’t help it. He opened one eye and looked at me sarcastically, and then rolled over, went to sleep and continued to make one-sided cat-conversation with himself.
Cats are truly wonderful.

It is Nick Hodgson’s 30th birthday!
See, about half an hour ago, he was 29. Now, a 14 year-old and a 29 year-old sounds bad enough already. But 14 and 30? Eeeew.
Ah, I still love him. I will marry him, then use him to seduce Ricky and commit bigamy. Of course, Nick wouldn’t be seducing Ricky. Nick would just be my means of getting to Ricky. Although maybe Nick seducing Ricky would work too. And then I jump in at the last minute and say “gtfo Nick!” And…
… this is turning into some strange form of slash/fan fiction. Like “you-think-it’s-going-to-be-slash-fiction-and-then-Tish-marries-Ricky” fiction. Hmm, OK, I’m going to spew out a load of keywords for Google now: kaiser chiefs slash fiction nick ricky tish cough teh lulz. (:
I put up a new layout. The other one was really really bugging me. You know when you look at something for too long and it starts looking ugly? It was like that. Except I can stare at Ricky and Nick forever and they are both still the most attractive specimens of the male gender that I know.
Maybe this layout will be a Ricky. Or a Nick.

Edit: It turns out the person in question hired a designer who then ripped my layout and… sold it to him I guess. I’m glad this was resolved in such a mature way. You can check out this thread on Snark if you want to see what happened.
I want to hunt down the designer now… What kind of person rips a fourteen year-old’s layout and puts it on a porn site. And charges someone for it. Ah well, it made my week much more interesting (ICT and English coursework ftw).

Why do you think I didn’t choose Physical Education as an option for my GCSEs? Could you possibly take a guess? Maybe it’s because I have no interest whatsoever in the intellectualisation of exercise. Maybe it’s because I do not wish to be forced into some kind of rigorous training programme which involves swimming (!!!) and long distance running (!!!!!!). At the moment I am not writing an English essay, which I should be writing, because I am ranting about the fact that you’re taking PE too seriously. I believe the reason it is compulsory in England to do at least one hour of PE per week in school, is because we need exercise. Not because we need to sit around talking about nothing. I’d much rather be outside playing netball, than inside having a test on the seven things we need for a balanced diet. We cover that in Biology, thank you. I’m not even taking an exam in PE and will not leave school with a GCSE in the subject. Your paperwork is pointless. Please stop before you force me into doing something silly (cough) like scribbling all over it.
